If we believe the youth are the future, we must also believe in their ability to lead.
We know where to look for guidance. We know there is strength in our history--in the legacies left before us. We must make space for understanding and remaining in conversation with those who came before us and made a path for us to walk.
They protected the Black Genius of those that came after them. Our ancestor's courage to build new systems of equity and justice is the example -- it is the cycle we must not break.
We know the feeling. The feeling that tells us the dreams we have, the dreams of liberation of our ancestors will be realized--because they have to. Our ancestors--our elders have set in motion a process and a purpose that we carry with us. We claim boldly that liberation is inevitable.
We can walk together
remember the land
remember what connects us
remember to love
build
and protect one another
